There have been new reports of users receiving emails, supposedly from the UP webmaster, asking for passwords. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO SUCH EMAILS. This is a scam called phishing, and is designed to fraudulently obtain sensitive information such as passwords, usernames, identities, or credit card details, typically for online criminal activities.
Similar emails have been circulating lately, masquerading as inquiries or instructions from Yahoo!, banks, Internet service providers, eBay, or other commercial entities. We strongly discourage users from replying to such emails. If you wish to contact your commercial provider to confirm the authenticity of the email, do not use any of the information provided in the email in question -- use published contact numbers or those which appear in your billing statements.
May we kindly reiterate: We will NEVER ask for your password.
DILNET FYI: UPD's Internet Traffic (24 April 2008)
The state of UPD's two main Internet connections may now be viewed at the bottom of this page. If you are accessing this page from within DILNET, the proxy servers connected to either of the two providers are also indicated. Users may manually select any of these proxy servers for their browsers; we recommend that you select one connected to an ISP link that is not yet fully saturated.
We will be posting tutorials very soon for users who do not know how to configure their browser's Web proxy. In the future, manual selection will no longer be necessary, as we will be implementing a scheme that would automatically balance the traffic load between our ISP links.
UP Webmail Advisory: Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus (June 25, 2007)
You can now login at http://mailc.up.edu.ph (available inside DilNet only) to see all the quarantined spams for your account. Once logged on you will see a list (if there's any) of all the quarantined mails. You can force the delivery of a quarantined mail to your account if you believe it's tagged incorrectly by clicking on the green arrow on the right side of the message.
